Hello,

Im not sure if any one is reading this but it has been week or so and I have left hotel backpackers and now live with the childen at casa guatemala. I am only able to come to town and use the internet once a week because of my position.

My postion is an orientador. Orientadors are like parents when the kids are not at school you are watching them. You make sure they shower, brush their teeth, and I feel my main job is that they don´t kill each other, Also I have sleep with in there quarter. Kevin(another volunteer) and I are in chair of 16 boys of the age of 8 to 11 or 12. They are hellens and I have not a clue what they are evering saying. Howevery, I feel my spanish is improving. The place is organized chaos if that makes since.

We wake up at five am and the poor kids have to take a shower and do their chores. Let me mention that the water is not warm it is freezing. I make sure they wash, mom i told you that history degree would pay off. The kids are able to play after their done from 6:30 to 7:30. They go to school until 4 but the have a 2 hour break for lunch and I have to watch them an hour and half during that. I get them then they may do a chore or go swimming. Then they shower and we eat. There is an activity for an hour and i get a break and then its bed time at 8. the sun sets at 6 and rises at 6.

There is no hot water at casa guatemala and there are no cold drinks and not much lighting. The volunteers house has no electricity and the childrens only from 4am to 8pm. Sites you may see at casa guatemala (cg) are

eric running around naked (not hillbilly but a child)
Turkeys or chikens being killed to eat
Cows walking beside
children cleaning fish next to women cleaning clothes.
starving rabid dogs
monkeys

The place basically has the bare necessities. And it is nice but I must practice my spanish. There is volunteers from everywhere and they are all nice.

Well my time is up I must go please post any questions.
